Sasha – ‘Vapourspace’ | New single on Last Night On Earth label

Christian : 06/03/2015 21:33 : MA goes international

Sasha_Vapourspace

Sasha presents the intense peak-time two-tracker ‘Vapourspace’ on his own Last Night On Earth imprint

It may have been some time since the award-winning DJ, producer and label head released his last solo material but recently he’s kept our interest firmly piqued with sharp remixes such as London Grammar’s ‘Hey Now’ and collaborations with the likes of James Teej and Joel Mull. – All awash with the invigorating hallmarks of one of electronic music most prolific producers.

The continued musical evolution and flawless production of Sasha undoubtedly lies in his ability to balance diverse elements within one single vision. Despite such a liberal resume it’s a fluency in a signature production language over the years that has proved to be an extremely worthwhile investment.

‘Vapourspace’ marks the first in a series of new releases to come from his own revered Last Night On Earth imprint throughout 2015. As is the norm with LNOE, these releases purvey more than just the music; each release will feature the label’s acclaimed artwork, which will add a welcome dimension and deeper sense of intimacy to each EP.

With a sublime driving bassline, whispering and ebulliently distorted vocals, Sasha builds layer upon layer delivering vivid and spacious melodic synths that display an intensity and character often absent from todays music.

The second track is an ‘Intro Mix’, a rework that the producer himself envisages as ‘perfect for opening with’. Even in a two-track release, the tracks retain a level of patience and care that artists rarely request and audiences rarely consume.; One of the many unique talents that has seen Sasha ruling dancefloors across the globe, and has gained him the reputation he carries today.

‘Vapourspace’ marks a key point in Sasha’s solo production discography, as he continues to deliver with literate depth, a style that never fails to have his audience hooked both on and off the dance
floor.

Track List

1. Vapourspace
2. Vapourspace (Intro Mix)

Last Night On Earth release Vapourspace on March 9th 2015.

Marc Houle ‘Restored’ featuring remixes from Joris Voorn. M.A.N.D.Y., Harvard Bass, Danny Daze

Bianca Bideac : 05/03/2015 10:11 : MA goes international
claredover_MarcHoule016fin_4

Marc Houle is set to release a full remix package from his debut LP, Restore, featuring remix contributions from an all-star line-up of techno luminaries including Danny Daze, Harvard Bass, Julian Jeweil, Joris Voorn, M.A.N.D.Y., Popof and Marc Houle himself.

Originally released on Richie Hawtin’s Minus label a decade ago, Restore stands alone as Houle’s very first long-player and helped to establish his penchant for the quirkier side of techno and his superlative production skills. Spread across 11 tracks it encapsulated the dark, minimal, groove-driven sound purveyed by Hawtin and the rest of the Minus crew, while retaining a strong sense of Houle’s unique character and identity. Now it’s the perfect time to breath new life into an album that has stood the test of time, still utterly infectious and absorbing – a collection of music that captures an era of stripped back, yet captivating sounds.

10 years since its release, the album is getting the remix treatment and Marc has called in some of the very best in techno talent to give Restore a fresh makeover. The selection of artists who’ve contributed to the ‘Restored’ project includes heavyweights such as Joris Voorn, M.A.N.D.Y. and Popof together with additional reworks from stars of the new generation such as Danny Daze, Julian Jeweil andHarvard Bass, all giving his tracks a new lease of life. In addition, Houle himself has also stepped up to offer a new contemporary take on his own music, collaborating with vocalist Genevieve Marentette on ‘Demor’.

“Restore was the beginning of it all for me.  It was influenced by the sounds of Detroit and the endless parties I went to there in the 90s.  It was my first album and to me it had the perfect balance of darkness, groove and electronic sounds. 10 years later, I am excited to present Restored with some modern interpretations on old tracks by some friends and colleagues who have kept the party going throughout the world.”- Marc Houle
The Restored remixes package will be released via a vinyl EP series and digital release in April 2015.

Maya Jane Coles announces new music from her alter ego NOCTURNAL SUNSHINE

Christian : 04/03/2015 20:42 : MA goes international

maya jane coles_nocturnal sunshine

Multi-award winning British-Japanese producer Maya Jane Coles is greeting 2015 with the debut album of her dark and dubby, bass-driven alter ego Nocturnal Sunshine.

Maya is plumbing new artistic depths—Nocturnal Sunshine exemplifying a deep commitment to her own expansive vision. From featuring her own vocals to being clad in artwork Maya created herself, Nocturnal Sunshine is something more of a cohesive artistic project than simply a record; it seems only too appropriate that the completely self-produced album be released on Maya’s own label, I/AM/ME.

Accompanied by a hypnotic video directed by The Fashtons, the driving, shuffling “Take Me There” will mark the first taste of Nocturnal Sunshine with a digital release on March 2nd. A limited edition 12” version backed with the otherwise unavailable “Never Too Late” will be available on Record Store Day.

Vocal duties on the album include Maya herself on the chilling “It’s Alright”, whilst rising star Chelou features on the unsettling and addictive “Believe”. Argentina’s own Catnapp lends her vocal talents to the darkness of “The River”. Though eminently dark and—at times—menacing, Nocturnal Sunshine is a heady journey steeped in dancefloor tradition; it is a fully realized undertaking that portrays another side of an artist who never shies away from progression.

Tracklisting:

1. Intro (Holding On)
2. Believe ft. Chelou
3 It’s Alright
4. Take Me There
5. Drive
6. Footsteps
7. Down By The River
8. Bass Bin
9. Can’t Hide The Way I Feel
10. Intergalactic
11. Skipper

Yousef announces ‘In the Process of Eight’ – his 3rd artist album

Christian : 04/03/2015 20:32 : MA goes international

yousef

In his 3rd artist album, Yousef elegantly marries an ongoing desire to labour dance floors with an unquenchable thirst to exhibit the range of musical influences he’s developed in a 15-year career as a Dj and producer.

Sticking with the 4/4 beat on this project, Yousef skilfully weaves through a variety of sophisticated electronic music. Sultry vocals sit next to Chicago rhythms, elevating moments couple up with cinematic techno, all relentlessly pulsating to the heart beat of authentic house. In The Process of Eight is an undertaking accomplished by someone who has dedicated their working life to the spirit of house music.

Produced, arranged and mixed by Yousef, the project invites a talented multitude of seasoned, fresh and even unknown artists, singers and beat makers to join him. Collaborations come from, Uner, Reboot, Bontan and the legendary Blakkat, with vocals from The Angel, soon to be discovered LA based jazz songstress Erica Thomson and Crosstown Rebels frequenter Kieran Fowkes, who appears on the first single taken from the album “Let Go”.

In The Process of Eight also includes two of Yousef’s iconic tracks “Come Home” and “Float Away”, amalgamating them along side his brand new compositions creating the producers most accomplished body of work to date.

Three singles from the album are penned for release in quick succession by mid summer 2015, followed by further music released on other world-class labels, Ellen Aliens ‘Bpitch Control’ and Dennis Ferrers ‘Objektivity’.

While being astutely present Let Go is Yousef’s own tribute to his early years as a DJ and producer, a throwback to his Chicago influence. As the vocal proceeds and controls the track, a looping bass hook and gnarly rhythm refuse to relent. The track rides on through a gentler, more musically delicate zone before the necessary crescendo demands that the listener adheres to the title…

Yousef releases ‘In The Process of Eight’ through his own label Circus Recordings on April 27th.

Kaiserdisco going back-to-back again

Christian : 04/03/2015 20:14 : MA goes international

Vitali Gelwich Photography Berlin Vreeze Studio Kaiserdisco djs Hamburg KD Music

Kaiserdisco going back-to-back again The Kaiserdisco force of nature shows no signs of abating. Having reached the milestone of 50 releases on KD Music, and then added to their arsenal with the KD Raw offshoot within the last year, Frederic Berger and Patrick Buck have announced they’re to add icing to their gourmet clubbing cake. The German duo are taking to the road again and re-establishing themselves as a live experience looking to live long in the memory. Quite simply, Kaiserdisco “don’t agree with playing solo anymore”, and are going all out, all for one and one for all, and with the bit and beats between their teeth.

With a reputation for leaving worldwide spots breathlessly at the mercy of their tech-house and techno sets since teaming in 2008, and known for their DJ duels put together across four decks and one mixer that channels their telepathy as well as providing surveillance to the baying masses in front of them, there’s no better time for Kaiserdisco to indulge in a spree of turntable takeovers as dedicated double trouble. “A lot of people always expect to see both of us,” say KD; “they know we are a duo, so they are surprised when we play alone.” Without underestimating their live past on the circuit, their hunger that realises the hype confirms that they “now need to give the public the full force of KD, at every show we play.”

The geography Kaiserdisco look to cover is likely to have further bearing on their release schedule. Known to name tracks and EPs after places they’ve visited – examples include Drumcode EPs ‘Victoria Harbour’ and ‘La Patagonia’, their releases on renowned labels such as Get Physical, Suara and 100% Pure and of course KD Music’s ‘Salamanca’/’Talavera’ EP – their dancefloor vision is as much to do with gaining cultural knowledge as it is rocking the hottest spots in town.

“As a duo, we are able to react much better and party much harder,” KD continue. Immediate beneficiaries are the locals of Peru, with the returning Buck and Berger providing Valentine’s magic at Lima’s Asia Beach Roof Party and Summer of Love three weeks ago. “For us it’s a feeling that we are stronger when we play together because we are more connected to the crowd.” Don’t call it a comeback, but Kaiserdisco going back-to-back again can only strengthen their long celebrated position as global crowd-pleasers. “You will never see us solo again –
it’s both of us or none of us!”
